Georgetown, a city that glistens in the eye of the historian, is Guyana's capital city and chief port. It is situated on the right bank of the Demerara River. Lying seven feet below sea level Georgetown is protected by the famous "sea wall" which is almost 280 miles long and one of the many local feats of Dutch engineering. Our British heritage is reflected during a leisurely walk along the tree-lined avenues which highlights the colonial Demerara wooden homes, unique examples of 18th and 19th century architecture.

During our Georgetown tour you will visit places of historical and cultural nature. You will be told the history and folklore behind the different places of interest.

These include:
bulletStabroek Market also known as the "Bizarre Bazaar" which sells everything from fishheads to filagree gold jewellery
bulletSt George's Cathedral - the tallest wooden building in the world
bullet Georgetown Zoo - home to a diverse variety of indigenous wildlife and birds
bulletBotanical Gardens - with fine examples of Guyana's flora and fauna
