Roam Through Vacquero Country

Use Karanambo, Rock View and Dadanawa to explore the highlights of the Rupununi while meeting the people of the area whose personalities are almost as big as the landscape.

The Rupununi, in the remote southwest of Guyana, is an area of extensive grass lands punctuated by bush islands and termite mounds with a backdrop of wind sculpted peaks of the Kanuku Mountains.

This land is the bastion of the vacqueros who ride their ponies barefoot and effortlessly work the cattle using their leather lassoes. Every year from June until August the rains flood the savannah so the bumpy jeep rides become serene boat journeys through flooded forests and plains.
